The School of Nursing prepares nurse leaders for advanced roles in Health Care Administration, Nursing Education, and Healthcare Quality Management. MSN graduates guide, direct and educate others on providing professional nursing care. These graduates evaluate education, administration, and quality to incorporate research findings into evidence-based practice. The impact of national and international policy and events are studied so that graduates can respond to nursing needs on a local to international level now and in the future. These leaders are also competent in scholarship, critical thinking and cultural diversity, and will continue to grow as servant leaders striving for personal and professional excellence.

Accreditation

The master鈥檚 degree program in nursing at 91桃色 is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street NW, Suite 750, Washington DC, 20001, 202-887-6791.

Accreditation assures you of the program’s credibility for future nursing positions and continued education in nursing.

The MBA program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs.

Additionally, the University is authorized to offer associate鈥檚 degrees in all fields, bachelor鈥檚 degrees in all fields, and master鈥檚 degrees in the fields of Administration/Leadership, Business, Counseling, Education and Nursing. The University accreditation is through the Higher Learning Commission.

Outcomes

The faculty of the Graduate Studies in Nursing Department assist students to build on, at the graduate level, the five General Education Outcomes of the University. Graduate Nursing Students demonstrate competency in these outcomes before graduation. The outcomes, their definitions, and their defining characteristics relative to a master of science in nursing degree are:

Propose innovative strategies for fostering collaborative relationships across professions and with care team members, including patients, families, and communities to enhance the healthcare experience and strengthen outcomes.

    • Professionalism: Develop and cultivate a sustainable professional identity that reflects nursing鈥檚 characteristics and values and demonstrates accountability, perspective, a collaborative disposition, and comportment.

    • Knowledge for Nursing Practice: Integrate, translate, and apply established and evolving knowledge from nursing and other disciplines to formulate sound clinical judgment and propose innovation in nursing practice.

    • Scholarship for the Nursing Discipline: Generate, synthesize, translate, apply, and disseminate nursing knowledge to improve health and transform healthcare.

    • Quality and Safety: Apply established and emerging principles of safety and improvement science to enhance quality and minimize harm to patients and providers through both system effectiveness and individual performance.

    • Informatics and Healthcare Technology: Evaluate and integrate information and communication technologies and informatics processes that meet regulatory and professional standards and help manage and improve the delivery of safe, efficient, quality care.
  • Passion to Serve
    • Person Centered-Care: Design, deliver and evaluate comprehensive personalized healthcare that demonstrates a compassionate understanding of the patient鈥檚 development, social contexts, and values, as well as evidence-based practice.
    • Population Health: Analyze population health data to identify trends and disparities and propose evidence-based interventions. Collaborate with a variety of stakeholders across the care continuum to design and implement health promotion and disease prevention strategies for the improvement of equitable healthcare outcomes.

Faculty Award
Nominations open for Daisy Faculty Award
The DAISY Foundation, as a part of its service to the nursing profession鈥檚 role in patient care, established the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing Faculty. The purpose of this program is to provide to colleges/schools of nursing a national recognition program they may use to demonstrate appreciation to educators for their commitment and inspirational influence on their students. The Foundation hopes that, in some way, this program will contribute to a positive work environment for faculty in schools.
